If you are interested in starting a free blog but have not set one up yet, you need to ask yourself this question: why the heck not? There is literally no reason why you should not sign up for your free blog today. In fact, the longer you wait, the longer it is going to take you to build it up to where you have a respectable readership level.
A lot of people get hung up on minor details when it comes to creating a blog, and they miss out on the big picture because of it. I know people who have been in the design stages of their blog for nearly a year, and for what? During that time they could have been producing content on that blog and attracting readers. Instead, they have spent the last year just trying to get their blog ready to launch. Don’t get me wrong, having a pretty looking site is a great idea, but the look of your page is secondary to the content that is on it.
There is not reason to wait till you have everything on your blog exactly the way you want it before you start posting content. What you should do is set up the blog as fast as you can and start dumping original content on it, and simultaneously being the process of upgrading your look. This way, you will not waste weeks, months, or years on a site that will be worthless even though you have everything perfect the way you want.
